Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's been 100 years since Binghamton Rotary began serving the community.
Wednesday night, members gathered at the Riverwalk Hotel to celebrate all they've accomplished, from raising more than $1 million for local, national and international projects to more recently helping Otsiningo park with a playground for those with special needs and helping a local free clinic better treat those with pulmonary conditions.
"We take a lot of pride in all that's been accomplished over the years. Much of it hasn't involved some of our current members, but it motivates us to do good things in the present to try and enhance the community," said Dave Gouldin, chairman of the Centennial Steering Committee.
Binghamton Rotary was the 64th Rotary club established in the United States and has inspired the creation of nearly 80 clubs around the region.
