Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Broome County Sheriff's Office has made quick work of an investigation into who killed Daniel Martinez.

The man authorities believe is responsible for the 27-year-old man's death was taken into custody Tuesday, and was being questioned by Broome County investigators Tuesday night, according to Sheriff David harder.

Harder said the man being questioned is a local resident -- although he would not elaborate, nor provide his name. Harder said he was taken into custody without incident earlier Tuesday.

Harder said he's confident authorities have the man responsible for Martinez's death.

More information is expected to be released at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Earlier Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office said they had found the vehicle involved in the Town of Chenango homicide.

Harder said a 4- door black Toyota Corolla was involved in the incident, and was towed to the Broome County Sheriffs Department.

Harder said Tuesday the office was looking for one or more people involved in the case. It's not known whether the county is looking for additional suspects.

Martinez, who is from the Bronx, was found in the Town of Chenango (see gallery for photo).

Investigators say they are still unsure as to why Martinez was visiting the area.

The Sheriffs Office says it appears multiple people were involved in the crime.

Deputies responded to Wilson Hill Road just after 10:00 Sunday morning.

Right now, police will not say if Martinez had any pending charges or a criminal background.

Endicott Police and Broome County's Drug task Force also helped in the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office Tip Line at (607) 778-1196.
