(WBNG Binghamton) Bradford County has a new emergency mass notification provider. The CodeRED mass notification solution will begin on January 4, 2013.
According to a news release:
The Bradford County Emergency Management Agency will be able to more effectively communicate time sensitive messages using ECN’s robust dialing infrastructure that is entirely managed by ECN, allowing calls to be delivered seconds after Bradford County officials launch a message.
Headquartered in Ormond Beach, Fla., Emergency Communications Network, LLC (ECN) has pioneered high-speed emergency notification services capable of reaching millions of citizens in minutes. ECN’s sophisticated network supports a web-based product suite including : CodeRED® which enables local government officials to communicate time-sensitive, personalized messages via voice, email and text messaging and CodeRED Weather Warning™ which provides automated alerts to citizens in the path of severe weather just moments after a warning has been issued by the National Weather Service. To learn more, visit www.ecnetwork.com
Bradford County residents are encouraged to go to the county website and register their current contact information, including cell phone numbers, business and home telephones, as well as email addresses and text addresses where they would like to receive notifications through the systems Citizen Enrollment Notification page. Although residents are guaranteed to receive emergency notifications upon enrollment, they may opt out of receiving a variety of other general notifications which might include road work and community announcements. To ensure that you are included in the new CodeRED database, please visit the Bradford County website at www.bradfordcountypa.org and register your information.
Bradford County has also purchased the CodeRED Weather Warning to alert citizens in the path of severe weather. Moments after a severe thunderstorm, flash flood or tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service, telephone messages will be sent to affected citizens. The system uses sophisticated technology to only contact those residents in the path of the storm. Only residents who sign up will receive notifications and they may customize the types of warnings they would like to receive. You will know the call is from CodeRED Weather Warning when you see 800-566-9780. If you’d like to hear the last message delivered to your phone, simply dial the number back. Your contact information remains private. It will only be used for severe weather alerts and in areas that have CodeRED for community notification; you will also receive messages delivered through that system.
