Bridge construction begins in Binghamton

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Construction began Monday morning on a stretch of Chenango Street in Binghamton.

Chenango Street, between Moffatt Avenue and Sturges Street, will be closed Monday and Tuesday starting at 6 a.m.

The road closed at 6 a.m. Monday and is expected to reopen at 6 p.m. Friday.

Construction crews are working to remove the bridge over Chenango Street. DOT signs are in place to guide drivers around the work zone.
A shuttle bus is available for pedestrians and bicyclists to safely move around the construction zone.

The shuttle bus will travel a continuous loop around the detour route and will have two pick-up locations: the intersection of Chenango Street and Morgan Street and the intersection of Chenango Street and Sturges Street.
