Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Broome County Executive Debbie Preston appointed a new Communications Assistant after the resignation of the former assistant who is facing a felony DWI charge.

WBNG-TV Action Sports reporter Gabe Osterhout, 34, of Vestal will start full time in early November as the Communications Assistant.

Osterhout has been with WBNG for 10 years.

Preston released this statement, “Gabe is a hard worker who I’ve worked with many times in the past. I’m excited to bring him on as part of our team,” Preston said. “He has a great work ethic and will help me get information out to the people of Broome County.”

Osterhout is replacing Jim Worhach, 28, of Binghamton. Worhach resigned in late September. He had been suspended without pay after he plead not guilty to one count of driving while intoxicated.

Worhach was indicted in August for DWI and causing personal property damage for an incident back in March.

The charge is a felony because of a previous alcohol-related conviction in 2005.
