Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) People around the area are shopping small this Saturday. For the past few years the day after Black Friday shines on small businesses.

Now more than 20 local shops have created a new way to get people inside.

Some Binghamton Businesses are welcoming customers to the North Pole.

With decorations, special savings, and even a visit from Santa.

"We got together and put together a list of people who might want to do something together and decided to launch it on small business Saturday," said Casey Krause of Hillside Garden Center.

It's called Binghamton's North Pole.

22 small businesses that wanted to make the most out of this Saturday.

"Small Business Saturday is again a grassroots name that has started nationally, but it's about your local community," said Christie Pinney of Best Bagels In Town.

Welcoming back the regulars and also first time shoppers.

"I live in Chenango Bridge but I haven't been here yet, and I wanted to support the local community," said Jody Lundvall of Chenango Bridge.

"You're gonna get a great product, better service, and where else can you walk in and meet the owner," said Krause.

Each business offers a special discount and the chance to meet the community.

"It gives us an extra 25% off accessories, and I really needed a new phone," said Jody Hayes of Chenango Bridge.

Even though some of these deals are just for Small Business Saturday, Binghamton's North Pole is just getting started.

"Saturday is just the launch day, we're going to continue with the Binghamton North Pole, see who else we can get member-wise in our area to join," said Krause.

"And planning how we can work with each other and just strengthen this community and strengthen either others businesses," said Pinney.

Joining together with positive feedback from the shoppers.

"Very convenient, I like it, I like the idea of it," said Lundvall.

"I think that will help all year long, not just during the holiday season, and it may introduce you to places you would not have gone to in the past," said Hayes.

To find new small businesses, just keep traveling north.

Small Business Saturday kicked-off in 2010.
