Candlelight vigil offers support following community tragedy
Hancock, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hancock village square was illuminated Thursday night as over 80 people gathered to hold a vigil following a community tragedy. Friends, family and neighbors came together holding candles in prayer for 18-month-old Andie Lynn, who fell from a second-floor window Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the toddler was airlifted to Albany Medical Center immediately following the incident. Family members said that while Andie is fighting for her life, it helps to have a tight-knit community to keep spirits up. "Small towns are built on things like this, it reminds you who's there, to have a collective group of people. Even if they can't all be here, saying prayers or writing a kind thought out to us as a family, it means the world," said Chelsea Sexton, a relative of Andie. The family has set up a facebook page under "Team Andie Lynn" where updates on the little girl's progress will be posted. A benefit will be organized to collect donations and continue support for family and friends.
