Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Broome County legislature committee showed the state its support of a casino within the county borders.

The five-member administration committee unanimously voted on a resolution Thursday night, showing the state that it is in support of hosting a site for a Las Vegas-style casino.

The full Broome County Legislature will vote on the resolution on Jan. 23.

Though the resolution does not support any particular planned bid, potential bidders voiced their approval.

Bill Walsh, owner of Traditions at the Glen, a Broome County site where a bid is expected, responded positively.

"We are very happy with the unanimous vote tonight but are not surprised. Our community is lining up to support this project so it is only right that the officials they elected see this and show that they are being represented," said Walsh.

Owners of Vista Hospitality Group, a local hotel management company, have also expressed interest submitting a bid in the Binghamton area.

Earlier this week, the Tioga County Legislature passed their own resolution in support of Tioga Downs Hotel and Casino receiving a bid.
