Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Hundreds of women came together to celebrate their lives, raise money for a local charity, and learn about cancer prevention.
The fifth annual Lourdes Celebration of Women packed Traditions at the Glen Thursday night.
Women from all over the Southern Tier ate food, shopped, and learned about their health.
Tables from Lourdes Hospital were set up all over the event where women could read up on the many different kinds of cancers and the different ways to maintain their health.
"They could schedule a mammogram right here, we have information on bone density, our diagnostic imaging services, we have a new dermatology clinic, and we have information on that," said Cathy Cramer, a member of the planning committee.
Donations from each woman in attendance goes to the Geller Fund, which helps cancer patients with their financing who are receiving treatment at Lourdes Regional Cancer Center and at Broome Oncology.
The event is held every year in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
