(WBNG Binghamton) New information about charges against a man who struck and killed two people with his car in New Milford Saturday.

The two men were hit while along Route 11 near the Blue Ridge Motel.

Brett Bennett, 40, of Kingsley, is facing Homicide By Vehicle While Driving Under Influence, among other charges.

State Police say he was driving his pickup truck south from Maloney's Bar when he struck Brian Thomas and Edward Turner III.

Court papers show troopers got to the scene just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday to find their bodies in the roadway.

Bennett was nearby with his truck which had heavy front end damage.

Bennett admitted that he had been drinking, and going too fast in a 35 mile per hour zone.

He said he saw someone in the roadway and tried to swerve.

Bennett is in the Susquehanna County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on March 19.
