Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Although the holidays are usually a time for family, one local town shares the night with the community.

The Town of Union held their annual Christmas in the Park Sunday afternoon.

At 7 p.m., one of the trees in Highland Park illuminated with holiday lights.

Santa was there to reign in the celebration.

"The camaraderie and the joy of seeing me and being inside and seeing the crafts and seeing your friends and whatnot, that meant a lot," said Santa Claus. " It's heart-warming to see everybody come together and to have that joy."

Before the tree lighting ceremony, more than 20 craft vendors set up shop so people could get a head start on holiday shopping.

Local handbell choirs and singing groups also performed.
