Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Neighbors in the north side of Binghamton are doing all they can to make their park the best it can be.

Members of the North Side Neighborhood Assembly said State Street Park is currently underutilized, but they have big plans for its future.

"We'd really like for this park to become a community space," said North Side Neighborhood Assembly member Chelsea Reome. "We don't want just us putting on projects with the same group of a dozen, half dozen people. We really want people to being to do their own thing at this park."

This weekend, the assembly is hosting a three-on-three basketball tournament in the park. It's called "Rebound City."

This will be the first of many events that will increase organized activity at the park.

The Assembly is also planning a block party toward the end of August and a haunted house for Halloween.
