Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Governor Cuomo issued a statewide initiative earlier this week to help those less fortunate this holiday season.
Friday was the culmination of a weeks worth of collecting.
Over 350 coats where and almost as many toys were collected, all of which were delivered by state officials to Catholic Charities.
From there all the donations will be distributed to needy families in the community.
"The economy is improving but there is still a lot of people that are in need and he is well aware of that," said Barbra Fiala, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo was proud of the community pulling together, "Our community has been through a number of challenges over the years, and I think we have just gotten used to pulling together at every turn along the way as we try and recover, and here we are once again doing our part."
