Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A county board will discuss whether Broome Executive Debbie Preston violated ethics laws when she wore a sheriff deputy's uniform for a campaign event last month.
The Broome County Board of Ethics opened and read a letter written by Democratic Party Chairman James Testani Thursday afternoon. The letter requested that the board investigate Preston's actions.
The Republican wore a Broome County Sheriff's deputy's uniform to Sheriff David Harder's campaign kick off in January.
Member of the board, Michael Marinaccio said after reading Testani's letter, they will investigate.
Marinaccio said in the past year, the board has only received two complaints. He said this letter is not a complaint, but a concern.
The board said it will likely have a conclusion by its next meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.
