DWI arrest after near miss with police cruiser

Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Johnson City police say a Binghamton driver was drunk when he just missed hitting one of their cruisers head-on.

According to Johnson City police, Phonprasith Xayavong, 33, was traveling down Arch Street when he crossed the double yellow lines and almost into the path of an officer driving in the opposite direction.

Police found Xayavong was intoxicated after pulling him over.

He was charged with several DWI-related charges.

Xayavong was released and will appear in village court at a later date.

Charges:
- Driving while intoxicated
- Driving while intoxicated with a BAC of 0.08 percent or more
- Aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC of 0.18 percent or more
- Aggravated unlicensed operation in the 3rd degree
- Failure to keep right
