Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Davis College men's basketball team is celebrating a second national title in the small bible college national invitational tournament.

Head Coach Dan Rathmell said his team played tough throughout the season.

"I'm really proud of our guys," Rathmell said. "I'm proud of our school. This is a great accomplishment for our school."

Falcon fans and players at Davis College gathered together for a pep rally Wednesday to celebrate the men's second national title, and the a record winning season for women's basketball. For the lady Falcons, it's the third conference win in three years.

"You almost don't even know what to feel like the first time," said Falcon's co-captain Bradley Ellis. "This time, it was almost like a relief that you wanted to do it again so bad."

Despite falling behind early in the season, the men's team showed perseverance winning nine of their last 10 games.

Falcon's co-captain Colton Lewis told his team to keep playing with confidence no matter the score.

"As long as we know at the end of the game we are going to come up with the win," Lewis said, "We just told them through the adversity just stick to it, play as hard as they could play."

Super fans, including self-proclaimed "Falcon Man" Brandon Swain, said the team performed unbelievably.

"Towards the end they were just fun to watch," Swain said. "High energy, always going. And they're great people."

Ron Heebner, a big Falcon fan as well as former county legislator, said the rest of the Southern Tier should take note.

"We got a national champion here. We have a college here. Davis is a college right here in Broome County," Heebner said. "And this is a marvelous thing to have in this area."

Next year, fans will be able to see their team no matter the outcome.

The small bible college NIT championship is set to be played at Davis College in Johnson City.
