Daycare Owner Arrested for Drug Possession

Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) More than $10,000 worth of drugs found at a daycare.

On December 6, Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force arrested Theresa Sunderland, 33, owner of Mother Theresa's Daycare in Johnson City.

The task force executed a no-knock search warrant at her home/business.

Police found five ounces of powder and crack cocaine. The task force said it is an estimated $14,000 in street value. They also found $225 and a digital scale.

Child Protective Services was notified after a 2-year-old child, who was being babysat by Sunderland, was within reach of the controlled substances.

Sunderland is now in Broome County Jail.

Charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Class A Felony
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B Felonies
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A Misdemeanor
