Deputies: Suspects on the run armed and dangerous

Town of Southport, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two men are on the run in the Southern Tier after an attempted robbery in Chemung County.

The Chemung County Sheriff's Office says they are armed and dangerous.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the town of Southport.

Investigators said two men, Robert L. Rouille, 33, and Sloman Knox, 52, threatened and assaulted a man and woman living along Laurentian Place, although no property was stolen.

One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The vehicle they were driving is described as a possible silver Saturn Ion.

Investigators said the two are armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Those with information are asked to call 911.

The Elmira Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
