Dryden, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office makes an arrest in connection to the death of a woman whose body was found on the side of the road in Dryden.

Deputies charged Arthur Basso, 36, of Moravia, with leaving the scene of an accident.

On Sunday the body of Crystal Grobelny, 31, of Moravia was found on the shoulder of West Dryden Road.

The office of the Tompkins County District Attorney said Grobelny “died due to injuries sustained from falling out of a moving vehicle”

According to CNYcentral, Basso told investigators that his girlfriend, Grobelny, jumped out of the moving car on her own. Basso said he looked for her but didn't see her.

Basso was sent to Tompkins County jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Dryden Town Court later this month.

On Monday, CNYcentral in Syracuse spoke to Phillip Bevier, Grobelny's father, who said the funeral director told the family Grobelny died as a result of being hit by a car at high rate of speed.

"She was a very loving person, she'd help anybody out," Bevier said about his daughter. "She was quite a social person, sees the good in people and not the bad."

The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office, New York State Crash Investigation Unit, New York State Police Forensic Investigative Unit and the Tompkins County District's Attorney's Office are investigating the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Tompkins County 911 Communication Center at (607) 272-2444 or the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office at (607) 266-5420.
