Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The fight continues for tougher gun control laws throughout the country. One local organization says there's still room to tighten up.

Organizing for Action (OFA) walked from Confluence Park to the Peace Makers Stage sending a message to Representative Richard Hanna.

They hope Hanna will co-sponsor the Public Safety and Second Amendment Right Protection Act of 2013.

Organizers add that they haven't forgotten about Sandy Hook and they hope that Hanna will fight to keep communities safer.

" We're talking about guns our police have to deal with every day. Getting those guns of the streets. Most of those guns are gotten through gun loopholes," Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan said.

Ryan says even a small step forward can help keep residents and law enforcement safe.
