Flags to be flown at half-staff for Barton soldier

(WBNG Binghamton) Flags will be lowered to half-staff Monday, July 8 for a Barton soldier who died in Afghanistan.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of Army Sergeant Justin Rogers who died in Bagram, Afghanistan on June 28.

Rogers died during a non-combat incident.

The Barton man was part of the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

Cuomo released this statement, "On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my condolences to the friends, family and fellow soldiers of Sergeant Rogers," said Cuomo "We mourn his loss, but will remember his service to our nation with pride."
