Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An athletic club damaged by the floods months ago is now ready to expand.

The Riverwalk Athletic Club broke ground this morning for an expansion project at the Binghamton Riverwalk Hotel and Conference Center.

The 3,000 square foot addition will include an aerobics room, spinning room, an outdoor half-basketball court and an additional gym floor space.

Just back in September, flooding destroyed everything inside the facility.

"The fact that we not only were able to come back as quickly as we were, but now to move forward and make this addition so that we're able to provide our members, the community with an even better facility that we started with in January is just really exciting," said Fitness Center Manager Kristina DelViscio.

The expansion will be built right behind the club.

Work on the addition is set to start immediately.
