Former Hockey Coach Sentenced on Child Porn Charges

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) As a result of an investigation conducted by the Southern Tier Cyber Predator Task Force, Richard Pierce, Jr., 47, of Apalachin, New York, was sentenced Wednesday in Federal Court in Binghamton.

Pierce is a former hockey coach, who admitted to producing and distributing child pornography.

Two years ago, Pierce admitted he videotaped and photographed 2 boys under the age of 12 at his home.

According to Court documents, they were naked and playing video games.

Pierce also said in court that he was guilty of downloading thousands of child porn photos to his personal computer.

Today in Federal Court, Pierce was sentenced to 20 years in federal
prison. He was eligible to serve up to 30 years for his offenses.

Pierce had pleaded guilty on April 19, 2011 to 5 felony offenses. They are Production of Child Pornography (2 Counts), Distribution of Child Pornography, Receiving Child Pornography, Accessing With Intent to View/Possession of Child Pornography.

Pierce is now in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service and will be transferred to the U.S. Bureau Of Prisons.

He is a father of 5 children.

Pierce was also a coach for the Southern Tier Hockey Association.
