(WBNG Binghamton) Students across New York will be seeing a new addition to the school lunch menu in September -- Greek yogurt.
It's all part of a USDA pilot program being launched in four states.
The goal is to see if Greek yogurt will be a cost-effective option for students.
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) first began to push the idea in June 2012 as a way to take advantage of New York's growing Greek yogurt industry.
The program will also be carried in Tennessee, Idaho and Arizona. If successful, it could then spread across the nation.
