Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) With the recent events in the Ukraine, many local Ukrainians came out today to celebrate their heritage.

Hundreds of people attended the St. Johns Ukrainian Days Sunday afternoon. Everyone who attended was able to enjoy the food and games.

They also reflected on the strong Ukrainian culture in the area. Organizers of the event said they come to support one another during this difficult time for all of them.

"It's not forgetting, this is actually coming together and families come together during times of crisis. A lot of us still have family living in the Ukraine," said Stephan Wasylko, parishioner.

This year was the 87th year the event has been held.
