Drunk driver charged in fatal crash

Bradford County, Pa. (WBNG Binghamton) A drunk driver has been charged with killing another driver in a head-on crash.

Richard Leighton, 69, of Monroeton, is accused of driving under the influence on March 13, and killing Rosemary Manuel, 64 of Dushore.

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda, Leighton was driving North on state route 220 when he crossed into the southbound lane, and struck Manuel's car head on.

Manuel died from her injuries.

Leighton was charged with homicide by motor vehicle while DUI, DUI, vehicle turning left, careless driving, reckless driving, and restraint systems. He is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing.
