Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A huge fire Tuesday night in downtown Binghamton spread to affect several other buildings, attached and nearby.

Binghamton Fire Chief Daniel Thomas says the first call came in around 9:45. He says the blaze started at 17 Chenango Street.

That's also the Midtown Mall Building.

Thomas says there is smoke damage to the Perry Building on Chenango and Court Street, and also the Press Building.

Action News Reporter Haley Burton was at the scene.

She says the biggest flames could be seen from the fifth floor of 17 Chenango Street.

Fire Chief Thomas says no injuries have been reported.

Binghamton, Johnson City, Endicott, and Vestal all responded to battle the blaze.

Thomas says their biggest concern was keeping the fire contained to 17 Chenango Street, so it wouldn't spread to damage buildings all down Court Street.

No cause is known for the fire at this time.

Thomas says fire crews will work all night to put out the blaze.

Smoke was still billowing out at 1 a.m. Wednesday, when Action News was still on the scene.

There was construction being done in the building.

Investigators will meet Wednesday to assess the damage.
