(WBNG Binghamton) As the holidays approach, the holiday shopping season isn't far behind.
The Consumer Electronics Association revealed this year's top anticipated technology sellers while looking back at the best sellers from decades ago.
This year marks the 20 years of the CEA's top tech gift's list.
To celebrate, CEA took a look back to top sellers of 1993.
Topping this year's list was tablets.
The gadgets from Apple, Samsung, Kindle and others are expected to be the most sought after items this year.
Compared to 20 years ago, the top sellers were personal computers, VCRs, camcorders and video games, like Sega Genesis and Game Boy.
The shopping culture has also taken on a new form over the past two decades.
"The other thing that's happened in the last couple years is using your smart phone to compare prices or to shop online," said CEA spokesman Jim Barry. "Most of the growth in sales this year will be online."
Smart TV's came in at No. 3 for 2013, while smart phones came in at No. 2.
Televisions also ranked high back in 1993, but back then, consumers wanted TVs that had color.
