Police investigate July 4 shooting in Ithaca

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Chestnut Street.

Around 1:30 a.m. on July 4, two people were driving on Chestnut Street when a person shot at them as they passed, according to police.

Police said the shooter then got into a car and chased the victims, continuing to shoot at them as they drove westbound through the city.

The victims said the man chased them and continued to shoot at them until they ultimately crashed their car on the 700 block of Elm Street Extension.

The shooter then fled the scene in his car, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

Police said descriptions of the shooter and the suspect vehicle are being withheld at this time while they investigate further.
