Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Ithaca Police arrested a man after several forced-entry burglaries in the area.
Police served a search warrant at the residence of Breon Brooks in the 400 block of West Green Street in the City of Ithaca. Investigators recovered a loaded handgun, stolen items linked to recent burglaries, and 3.5 grams of heroin. The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation of multiple forced-entry burglaries in the Ithaca area.
Ithaca Police Chief, John Barber said the arrest took a group effort.
“Each victim now has some sense of closure, and I am proud of the efforts of all of the officers involved. Ithaca is a safer place now that Brooks is off the streets,” Barber said.
Brooks was arraigned Friday in Ithaca City Court. He was taken to the Tompkins County Jail on $200,000 cash bail or $400,000 bond. Brooks is also facing a hearing on charges he violated the terms of his New York State Parole.
