Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The fate of accused murderer Peter Wlasiuk is now in the jury's hands, as deliberations are set to begin Friday morning.

But some family members Action News spoke with Thursday believe that verdict will be "not guilty."

This is the third murder trial for Wlasiuk who's accused of killing his wife Patricia in 2002.

Peter's father, Tom Wlasiuk, said he believes the defense did its job and proved that his son is innocent.

Peter and Patricia's daughters, Jolynn and Rebecca Wlasiuk, also tell Action News they believe their father is innocent.

The defense claims Patricia Wlasiuk died from drowning and that the prosecution has no evidence to prove Peter killed her.

In its closing arguments, prosecutors told jurors Peter's motive for killing his wife was to collect more than $300,000 from life insurance and other policies relative to her death.

They argue Peter wanted to be alone with the couple's girlfriend, Joyce Worden.

The jury begins deliberations Friday morning.
