Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An attorney has announced his plans to run for Tioga County's top law enforcement spot.
Attorney Kirk Martin served as an assistant district attorney until 2006, when he resigned after pleading guilty to a reduced DWAI charge relating to a car crash on Route 17 in the Town of Owego.
Martin has the full support of Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard.
Martin has practiced criminal law for 14 years, and is basing much of his campaign on the work he's done with law enforcement to reduce the amount of methamphetamines and other drugs in the county.
"The citizens of Tioga County are my family and my friends and my neighbors and I'm concerned about their wellbeing and their safety. And I've always been taught to give back," Martin said.
Martin is a lifelong resident of Tioga County. He attended Penn State University and then received his law degree from Boston College.
