Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Steven Lipka of Vestal pleads guilty to first degree manslaughter for killing his girlfriend back in June.

In Broome County Court, 20-year-old Lipka admitted to intending to cause serious physical injury which led to the death of 16-year-old Shelby Jenkins.

Police were called to the home on Westland Road in Vestal in the early morning hours on June 14 to investigate a report of an unconscious teenage girl. Jenkins was taken to Wilson Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death was strangulation.

Lipka will be sentenced on December 14 to serve 18 years in prison.
