Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Mason McKan's name is living on through his family, who have turned a tragedy in their life into something positive for other children.

Mason passed away at 6 months old in January from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

His parents have launched a basketball tournament at the Johnson City Middle School to honor his life.

All of the proceeds raised will benefit the Mason P. McKan Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship will help send local children to the BX Strength and Speed Development training center throughout their high school career.

"He's thanking you big time and so are we. We just hope that his smile and those eyes get into everybody and make a difference everyday. We really hope that since he can't go to BX that we can send a lot of little kids that wouldn't have had the opportunity to go on his behalf," says Mason's Mother, Kate McKan.

The Mase Madness tournament will be held on August 11th and 12th.

If you would like to help, checks and donations can be mailed or dropped off to The Mason P. McKan Scholarship Fund at 74 Bennett Avenue in Binghamton.
