Local icon, "Jingles," dies

(WBNG Binghamton) Family and friends mourn the loss of a local icon. Michael Rubino, known to many as "Jingles," died Thursday according to his obituary.

Rubino led crowds in cheering at Binghamton Mets' home games, and danced at every seventh inning stretch.

He was an umpire for 30 years in Binghamton's Umpire Association.

He is survived by his daughter, son and grandchildren.

Rubino's family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wm. R Chase & Sons Funeral Home in Port Dickinson.

A service for Rubino will be offered 9:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

He was 81 years old.
