Man Charged In Shooting Death Of Father

Trumansburg, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A grand jury in Tompkins County indicted Matthew Taranto, 28, on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree.

Taranto was arrested for the shooting death of Salvatore Taranto, 58, in November 2010.

Matthew Taranto lived with his parents at 104 Tamarack in Trumansburg.

On November 30, 2010 Salvatore Taranto was shot several times.

He went to a neighboring home for help but died at a hospital.

Matthew Taranto has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

The Tompkins County District Attorney's office says the maximum sentence for a conviction of Second Degree Murder is 25 years to life in state prison.
