Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton man is sentenced for first degree manslaughter after completing a plea bargain for a lesser charge.
Daniel Doherty, 22, of Binghamton was sentenced a 23 year prison term.
Back in May Doherty pleaded guilty to second degree murder in connection to the 2011 death of 27-year-old Daniel Martinez.
Martinez was found dead off of Wilson Hill Road in the Town of Chenango on October 30, 2011.
As part of a plea deal, Doherty was required to testify at the trial of co-defendant, Joseph Ross-Jones. Ross-Jones was acquitted of all charges last month.
Due to his compliance, Doherty was allowed to withdraw his guilty plea to second degree murder and plead guilty to manslaughter.
