Man convicted of murder, rape pleads guilty to child pornography possession

Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A convicted murder and rapist pleaded guilty to a six-count indictment involving receipt and possession of child pornography in federal court Friday.

David Renz, 29, admitted to allowing the search of a computer used to download and store child pornography, according to the department of justice.

The FBI arrested Renz in January of 2013 after finding 500 videos and over 3,000 pictures depicting the pornography.

Back in July Renz pleaded guilty to murdering a school librarian, Lori Bresnahan, and sexually abusing her daughter.

He also pleaded guilty to five counts of possession of child pornography on DVDs and CDs.

Renz faces a minimum sentence of five and a maximum of 20 years in federal prison on the charges of receiving the pornography, and 10 years maximum for each possession charge.

Renz also faces fines of up to $250,000 on each count.

Police also charged with with supervision post-release from 5 years to life.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2014.

His sentence for the murder and rape conviction will run concurrently with the conviction related to child pornography.
