Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Speculation has circled at to whether Binghamton's Mayor would be running for a seat on New York's State Senate. Back on April 10, Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan was asked about running for a higher office. His only response to the question was "I have not made any decisions about whether or not I'm running for anything at this point. As soon as I do, I will let you know." Today, the democrat made his intentions known. Ryan said he will not be running for the Senate seat. Ryan said back in March that members of the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee contacted him about running for New York's 52nd district. The seat is currently held by Republican Thomas Libous. Libous is serving his 12th term. His response back in March was, "Campaign season will be upon us soon enough, and I support anyone's right to run." While Ryan will not seek the Senate seat, he did say he is filing a complaint about Libous, asking for the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) to investigate the Republican Senator.
