Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A student who wrestled at Cornell University plead not guilty to a rape charge in Ithaca City court.

Meanwhile, the university has set up website related to sexual and gender violence.

Peter Mesko, 22 of Honesdale, PA was in Ithaca City Court Friday.

He is accused of entering a bedroom and having sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent. Ithaca police said the woman was asleep when the assault began.
The case now goes to Tompkins County District Attorney's office for review. If no action is taken at the county level, Mesko would appear back in Ithaca City court in October 2013.
Cornell Dean of Students Kent Hubbell issued a statement posted on the university website stating the arrest  has shocked the campus community.
He said Cornell set up a new website called SHARE which stands for Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Education. It provides access to services, support and education related to sexual/gender violence and misconduct.

"I want to reiterate that Cornell University condemns all acts of sexual violence and abuse, and we take every report of sexual harassment, assault, or misconduct seriously," Hubbell stated.

He also asked the campus community to be patient while this investigation is underway and that all parties involved should be afforded their privacy and due process.
