(WBNG Binghamton) A former Tioga County corrections administrator will spend six months jail for the 2010 beating of a defenseless inmate.

The incident was caught on surveillance, showing Monell beating inmate David Coffey while he was handcuffed during the assault.

Monell pleaded guilty to the felony charge of deprivation of rights under color of law back in August.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, he was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to six months in federal prison with a one-year supervised discharge. The first six months, he will be on home detention and will be required to wear an ankle monitor.

He is to report to prison on Feb 15.
