Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton's bringing a little laughter to the city.
More than 40 comedians will be a part of the first Binghamton Comedy and Arts Festival this month.
The Bundy Museum and Art Gallery is sponsoring the event.
Mayor Matt Ryan announced the festival Thursday at the Bundy Museum and said the event helps the city.
"Things we can bring to the city really puts us on the map because these are world-class comics coming to our town," Ryan said. "We are very proud so much effort is being put into this."
Kevin Salisbury, organizer of the festival, said Binghamton is very supportive of the arts.
"I think that Binghamton is ready for something like this," Salisbury said. "Binghamton has a reputation for getting behind its local entertainers and local promoters. I don't think this is any different. I think this is something we can all be proud of."
The festival will take place from Aug. 16 - 18 at three venues, the Bundy, Belmar and Zona Grill.
$10 of every $35 weekend pass will go to support local Arts education
