Silver Lake, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Crews from several departments were on the scene of a 3-alarm house fire at 1253 Sweeny Road in Silver Lake.

The Silver Lake Fire Chief Jay Klien says it was an electrical fire that started in the garage.

The call came in around 3:30 p.m. Heavy winds pushed the fire onto the cedar siding of the house.

When crews arrived, the home and the garage were both fully engulfed.

The homeowner was burned trying to put the fire out before crews arrived.

The fire is ruled as accidental. Both the house and the garage are destroyed.

The American Red Cross of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties Chapter is helping out the family, which consists of two adults and four children, with food, clothing and lodging. The Red Cross will follow up with the family, as needed.
