Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Do you volunteer? Are you interested in it? Now's the perfect time to start.
National Volunteer Week runs April 21 through the 27.
The Broome County Executive along with the United Way of Broome County made the announcement Friday morning.
They kicked it all off the Oakdale Mall.
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize locally active volunteers and encourage others to get involved.
"If we didn't have these organizations and all that they do for our community, we would have a huge gap in the services that are provided to so many," said Broome County Executive, Debbie Preston.
Broome County will host several events next week, including a senior volunteer fair, special recognition for Superstorm Sandy victims and training for new volunteers.
