New power plant coming to PA

Lycoming County, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett announced Tuesday the creation of a new power plant that will bring hundreds of jobs and billions of dollars to the area.

An estimated 500 jobs will be created by this power plant, which will be located at the heart of the Marcellus Shale region.

It will be the second plant to be built in the region in Lycoming County.

"By harnessing what is truly world class energy resources here in Pennsylvania, and working with the energy companies who do wanna locate we are reviving and reinvigorating communities all across Pennsylvania," said Corbett.

The new plant will be fueled by natural gas, and will power up to one million homes.

The power plant is expected to contribute nearly $6 billion to the local economy within its first 10 years of operation.
