Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Students find a recording device in their locker room, and now a Norwich High School employee is facing charges.

Norwich City Detectives arrested Jonathan Aikins, 28, of Norwich yesterday afternoon.

He was interviewed and taken into custody at his home yesterday around 3:30 p.m.

Police say students were in a locker room and heard a noise coming from the recording device.

They handed it over to school administrators who believe it belongs to Aikins.

"What these students did was the correct thing to do," said Chief Joseph Angelino from the Norwich City Police Department. "It was textbook, how they did it. They immediately located a threat to them and notified the authorities, and this is how it ended up. It's education, and it's very easy to be victimized, and unfortunately that's why we have these surveillance laws."

Aikins is free on $1,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear before Norwich City Court on June 7th.
