Officers arrest missing sex offender

Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Law enforcement took a missing level-three sex offender into custody early Wednesday morning, according to the Broome County Sheriff's Office.

Members of the U.S. Marshal's New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force executed a search warrant at 2191 Route 26.

There, law enforcement agents found Timathy Benninger and took him into custody without incident.

Benninger was convicted of sexual abuse in 2003. Within the past week, he violated parole and fled from officers.

Crews took him to the Broome County Jail, where he is being held without bail.

Officers from the U.S. Marshal's Service, Broome County Sheriff's Office, Binghamton Police, New York State Police and New York State Parole make up the U.S. Marshal's New York/ New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
