One arrested, another hospitalized after shooting

Town of Virgil, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A shooting in Cortland County hospitalized one man, and led to the arrest of another.

Around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, the Cortland County Sheriff's office received a phone call from a man who was shot on West River Road in the town of Virgil.

Deputies found the 51-year-old man victim at his home, about one mile from where the shooting took place.

The man had been shot in the stomach, and was airlifted to Upstate Medical in Syracuse for his injuries.

His name was not released.

A search warrant at the home on West River Road turned up two shotguns and ammunition.

The Sheriff's Office arrested Ronald Daniels, 50, for the crime.

He was charged with felony reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Deputies said Daniels and the victim had known each other for several years.
