Delhi, NY (WBNG Binghamton) After a yearlong investigation, the kingpin of a major drug trafficking operation in Otsego County is arrested.
Now Dante Darren Major, 35, may spend the rest of his life locked up.
State Police arrested the Hobart man Tuesday in Delhi on a traffic violation, but found out the Otsego County Sheriff's Department had a warrant for his arrest.
That was for more than 13 ounces of oxycontin powder recovered from two homes in the area last year.
Deputies estimate Major made more than $75,000 acting as the director of the drug trafficking organization for the oxycontin.
He was arraigned and sent to the county jail on $750,000 bail.
Major has two previous felony convictions.
He's due back in court on April 20, 2012.
If convicted of the charges, he may face 15 years to life in prison.
Those charges include operating as a major trafficker, criminal possession of a controlled substane (1st degree), and two count of criminal possession of a controlled substane (3rd degree).
The charge of operating as a major trafficker, alone, could land Major in prison for up to 20 years.
