Newark Valley, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An Owego fire captain dies while battling a house fire in Newark Valley Monday night.
Captain Matthew Porcari died after a floor collapsed in the building, according to the Owego Fire Department.
Firefighter Daniel Gavin was also injured during the collapse.
Gavin was taken to Wilson Hospital before being transferred to the burn unit at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
A Facebook page called Prayers and Support for Owego Fire Department was created early Tuesday morning to honor Porcari and support Gavin.
